Help Make History – Let’s Take The Mars Generation To Space

LetsLaunchAbby_Inspiration4-Contest_The-Mars-Generation_Astronaut-Abby.

Big news! We can make space history now!

If you’ve heard my story, then you already know I’ve been working to become an astronaut since I was 3 years old. Many of you have been along for the ride these past 10 years since I started sharing my progress on social media. My goal was, and still is, to be the first person on Mars. Now, I have an opportunity to make history TODAY as the youngest person EVER in space. More importantly I will get to bring my entire generation (and the world) with me.

Here are the details: Inspiration4 Mission

The ecommerce platform Shift4Shop.com is sending the world’s first all-civilian mission to space! The Inspiration4 mission will raise awareness and funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and represent a new era of human spaceflight and exploration.

One of the 4 seats on this first-of-its-kind mission will go to the winner of the Inspiration4 Contest. I’d like to be the person to secure that seat on behalf of my nonprofit, The Mars Generation – but in order to do so, I need my story to be shared further and wider than ever before! And I can’t do it without you!

Come With Me to Space!

By spreading the word, donating, and making sure my message has the largest reach, you can help send me on this mission.

If I win, I will become the youngest person in history to go to space. As a 23-year-old nonprofit president, research scientist, and science communicator, pilot… I continue to break barriers every day, showing kids (and adults) everywhere that not even the sky’s the limit when it comes to their dreams! And let’s face it, right now we could all use some inspiration to achieve new heights.

With this mission, I would be able to take my platform of STEM communication and science advocacy to orbit and reach the entire world! This is such an incredible opportunity to elevate the work of The Mars Generation and show young people (and especially girls and young women) EVERYWHERE that their dreams are possible.

One step for me is a giant leap for future generations. I will be sharing my journey every step of the way on social media, just like I have been doing for the past 10+ years! I want to prove that big dreams can come true and that we really can change the world.

And you’ll be coming right along with me! Your help now and each day this week through February 28, will be part of what will secure me – and The Mars Generation – a spot on this mission.

How You Can Help Make History

I need your support by sharing my #Inspiration4Contest entry on Twitter with as many people as you can. Watch my video, then retweet it, like it, share it on Facebook, DM your friends with the link. Tell them my story and ask them to help spread the word.

On Twitter

My journey started on Twitter – and now I am calling on my Twitter community who have been so loyal and supportive over the past decade to help me take this next big leap!

Twitter is where the contest is happening and the “viral” nature of this video is being judged solely on how far and fast this video can spread. The video needs views, retweets, likes and comments because Twitter’s algorithm prioritizes tweets with lots of engagement, and that means the more people who engage with this tweet the more Twitter will push it into the feeds of others. So please go to Twitter now (even without an account, your view still counts), follow the steps below, and help me make history!

  1. Watch my contest entry video here! Then like, comment, retweet, quote retweet on different days to spread the word!
  2. If you want to get more proactive, go into the comments of the contest tweet and like the comments, you can also find others who have “quote retweeted” me and like and comment and share their quote retweets of my contest tweet. Again, the more interaction that surrounds this tweet, the better.
  3. You can also direct message people on Twitter with the link and a simple message like:
    • Help Make History: https://twitter.com/AstronautAbby/status/1362772504914362368
    • or Let’s get Abby off this planet: https://twitter.com/AstronautAbby/status/1362772504914362368
    • or Please view and share: https://twitter.com/AstronautAbby/status/1362772504914362368

On Instagram

Even though you can’t share links on Instagram, spreading the word about my entry in the Inspiration4 contest is super important! Here’s how:

  1. You can post in your feed and drive people to my pinned Tweet over on Twitter @AstronautAbby.
  2. You can post on your story and encourage others to watch and retweet! If you have more than 10,000 followers on Instagram, you can also share a link in stories, so grab a screenshot of the Tweet, add the link to the tweet in your story, and tell people to Swipe Up to watch. It’s that easy!
  3. If you are really motivated to get me off this planet, you can also direct message people on Instagram DM with the link and a simple message like:

Support the Cause

Not only will you help launch me to space, but you will support a truly worthy cause here on Earth. The goal of this contest is to spread awareness and raise funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. In exchange for donations to St. Jude, I’m providing one-hour inspirational group web chats via Zoom. You can visit my ecommerce Shift4Shop product page here for an opportunity to pick up one of 20 inspirational Dream Big web chats with me.

A donation (100% goes to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital) of $100 will receive a one-hour group web chat via Zoom. This chat may be set up for any group of students, including schools, classrooms, organizations, etc. of your choice.

If you don’t have a children’s group in mind but still want to donate you still can! I will provide a web chat to a school or classroom in need in your honor! This is a way to help advance new treatments for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital while also inspiring groups of students to dream big – a mission that I have been working toward for years!

The Mars Generation Mission

In going to space, I would not just be representing myself, but The Mars Generation Inc – a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation whose mission is to inspire and empower the next generation to dream big and quite literally reach for their own stars.

You might be wondering, how did an 18 year old start a 503(c) nonprofit? It all actually started…on Twitter! At age 13, I set up a Twitter account to get a quote from a NASA employee for a school project, and as you can see, it turned into a lot more than that! The Space community on Twitter was excited about my dream of space travel and my willingness to share it publicly. Through the encouragement of this community, I was inspired to share my journey towards space from start to finish. I hoped that I could help inspire others to dream big and also encourage people to support space exploration.

Not only is the work and mission of TMG forward-thinking, but our core business model is innovative in itself. We are primarily funded through social revenue – I have donated 100% of my earnings through speaking honorariums, ads, and more to fund The Mars Generation. I have never taken a payment in my name. This is something I am incredibly proud of, and I am grateful to be able to keep the important work of The Mars Generation going.

All of this came to be because I had a message about hope for our future and the drive to share it. That message, coupled with the power of social media, was amplified and became a feedback loop to fund our work and spread our inspirational mission further! I attribute the prosperity of my work and nonprofit to my deep investment in doing all I can to share what I am learning with others and empowering them to find their own Mars.

So, what do you say? Do you think The Mars Generation deserves to be elevated to the stars and beyond? Do you want to help us make history and in the process inspire generations to believe that no dream is too big?

Then click RT, donate, and let’s go to space.
